Connect the green wire from the diode 'y' to the g terminal on the thermostat. Connect the yellow wire from the diode 'y' to the y terminal on the thermostat. Put the thermostat face plate back on. Remove the access panel from the furnace and locate the thermostat wires and terminals.
The purpose of a c wire is to ensure continuous flow of 24 volts ac power supply to the thermostat. Back in the olden days, thermostats were just on/off switching devices and they used to draw the necessary. Sometimes y is just tied from thermostat to the y for the outside unit and c is just a connection to the sheet metal in the furnace or on the outside unit. B is considered common when you do not have a heat pump and is the common for the heat pump reversing valve. To wire up your nest thermostat, simply: Connect the red wire from the transformer to either the rc or rh terminals (as they are connected internally) run the white wire from the furnace on the w terminal.
